Performance supplements

Performance supplements help you improve your strength and endurance, while also helping you achieve your performance goals more quickly, or increase your tolerance for the more intense training. There are many available out there, but these six stand out as the most important and effective.

1. Proteins are large and complex molecules that play many crucial roles in your body:

o they help repair and build body’s tissue,

o cause biochemical reactions,

o act as a messenger

o provide cell structure

o maintain proper pH

o regulate body processes to maintain fluid balance

o transport and store nutrients

o bolster the immune health

o provide energy

It is important to optimize your daily protein intake. For supplementation, I recommend using organic isolated whey protein, or vegan protein.

2. Essential Amino Acids

Amino acids are organic compounds composed of nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.

They are the building blocks of proteins and they play many critical roles in your body such as synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters. Some may also be taken in supplement form to improve athletic performance or can be used as the mood enhancers.

Your body needs 20 different amino acids, but only 9 are classified as essential.

3. Creatine

Creatine is a natural substance which helps produce the optimal amount of energy for muscle contractions. It improves strength and boosts your brain activity to some degree, too.

The body produces only some of the creatine it uses. Therefore, in order to achieve maximal performance, you should probably take some of it through supplementation.

Benefits of creatine supplementation are likely to be more noticeable for vegans and vegetarians.

4. HMB

HMB is used for increasing the benefits of exercising, but also for treating diseases of the heart and blood vessels, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

It is a chemical that is produced when the body breaks down the leucine.

5. Caffeine

It is a well-known natural energy enhancer, found in drinks such as coffee and tea.

6. L - Citrulline

L - Citrulline is the amino acid that boosts nitric oxide production and improves your blood flow.
