Gut Loving Foods



How often we hear about pre en probiotics and we don't realize that they don't need always to come from a pill.


Today I had a consultation with a client in which our target in this new phase in her treatment is to add as many as "GUT LOVING FOODS". So we discussed it all and put an action plan together.


It's important to talk about the benefits of removing inflammatory foods (more on what those are in a moment) and loading up on gut-healing foods. Especially if you have a pre-existing condition, damage from medication, a poor diet, or other factors that can compromise your beautiful digestive tract. This is where gut-loving foods like the ones to follow come in. These are the foods that healed up my own gut, reduced pain and bloating and calmed down inflammation. I still use them to this day and I’m excited to now share them all with you!


GUT LOVING FOODS


  • Bone broth is rich in collagen, minerals and gelatin—compo- nents that are key for rebuilding the gut and gut lining. This beautiful broth can be sipped throughout the day or added to soups and stews.

  • Kombucha is a fermented tea (slightly less alcoholic than beer) made with black tea and sugar, and is loaded with B vitamins. You can make this at home or buy at your local health food store. This drink is made by letting tea ferment on the countertop for about a week to grow beautiful bacteria and yeast.

  • Collagen should be on your list of gut-health foods because it helps heal your gut lining. In addition, it’ll boost your metabolism, increase your energy, diminish cellulite, and help de- toxify your body.

  • Water kefir is a carbonated beverage made from water with a kefir starter. Water kefir is loaded with good bacteria and can be sweetened and fermented with different juices to en- hance the taste.

  • Coconut water kefir is a fermented beverage made from young coconuts. It contains the following minerals needs for healthy digestion and a functioning thyroid: potassium, so- dium, chloride, calcium, and magnesium. Kefir also contains seven strains of probiotic bac- teria and yeast.

  • Beet kvass is a powerhouse blood and liver cleanser. It is made from fermenting beets with a salt brine and is loaded with healthy bacteria, vitamin B, vitamin C, and folic acid. You can make your own at home, or find it in your local health food store.

  • kimchi or sauerkraut
