Case Study 1: Gallbladder Health
Liz woke up in the middle of the night with intense abdominal pain and nausea, which she suspected was due to food poisoning after having a cobb salad with roasted chicken and a small piece of dark chocolate for dessert at a local restaurant. However, when the pain persisted, she consulted her GP, a conventional physician, who recommended a cholecystectomy to remove her gallbladder due to suspected gallstones and an inflamed gallbladder. Concerned about the potential risks of surgery and seeking a second opinion, Liz turned to me for a holistic approach to her condition.
Firstly I recommended her to go back to her GP and ask for a referral letter for eczema of imaging of her abdomen, including an ultrasound, which revealed normal test results after all. After discussing the pros and cons of surgery, Liz decided to try a functional nutrition therapy approach. I prescribed supplements including taurine, digestive enzymes, and curcumin, all known to support digestive health and liver function, promote the dissolving of gallstones, and reduce inflammation.

Lizz experienced immediate relief after taking her first doses of the supplements and continued to take them regularly, without any further abdominal pain flare-ups. Additionally, with my guidance, Lizz discovered that she was sensitive to gluten, which was causing occasional burning sensations in her abdomen.
Lizz's case demonstrates the potential benefits of a holistic approach to gallbladder health using functional nutrition therapy. Instead of jumping to surgery, which can carry risks and lead to the loss of an important organ, Lizz was able to address the root causes of her condition with natural and safe supplements.
