Running towards a better performance.
In honor of my sister, a high performance 200 and 400 metres runner in Costa Rica, who passed away in 2005 after fighting against cancer, I decided to run a Marathon to demonstrate how special she was for me. In 2015 I set myself the goal of running the Berlin marathon and achieving a better time. I had already run some marathons and I knew what it was like to train to finish a race but I did not have the experience how to train speed.
In December of 2014, I went to Costa Rica to do some fitness tests and the result was depressing: the expert told me not to dream of finishing the race in less than 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Very disappointed I returned to Holland; Something that characterizes me is when something gets into my head - I have to do. With my husband we signed up for the Berlin Marathon, I knew I could give it all and I did not want to hear the expert's remarks in Costa Rica.
To do this, I needed technique training to improve my performance and a very simple Runkeeper program. At that moment was when I called Adriano to design a parallel strength and conditioning training program that consisted of three days of high intensity exercises and a good personalised nutrition program for me.
When I finished every session with Adriano, I came home exhausted but I felt fitter every time afterwards. I was very strict in following the directions that Adriano gave me. Results began to come: I had a lot of energy, in the training races for the marathon with my husband had a lot of power and higher performance. To the point that I won the first place in two half marathons in Holland, my body changed significantly: increased muscle mass, less fat, and a toned body.
When the day of the marathon arrived, I was happy to finish the race in 3 hours and 41 minutes. It did not hurt at all.
After that race I'm motivated to run another marathon and break my record. I've been already discussing it with Adriano and taking up a new preparation program with him. I will keep running, training and eating healhily because that is my lifestyle now.
